Leucanthemum x superbum `Phyllis Smith`

Leucanthemum x superbum `Phyllis Smith`Leucanthemum x superbum `Phyllis Smith` is a frilly-flowered leucanthemum that is worthy of a place in any cotagge-style garden. The new growth begins in early spring as the new shoots emerge from the ground. By July, the plant is 1,5 metres high and by the end of that month, the flowers begin to open, revealing the pure white petals with egg-yolk yellow centres

Berkheya purpurea

Berkheya purpurea
A fast-growing, long-lived perennial, Berkheya purpurea has a long, single taproot and forms a dense clump of very prickly foliage tight on the ground. The large green leaves arranged in a rosette are up to 250 mm long with wavy, very spiny edges. The upper surfaces of the leaves are almost shiny, whereas the cobwebby undersides are covered with long, soft, white hairs. Smaller leaves are produced along the single flowering stem; these leaves diminish in size upwards and their bases continue down the stem forming broad spiny wings running down the stem-an interesting feature of Berkheya purpurea. X Rhodoxis Hybrida
A vigorous hybrid between Rhodohypoxis and Hypoxis found growing in the wild.  Like Rhodohypoxis, these delightful little plants like an acid to neutral soil, and come from the Drakensberg Mts. in S. Africa where they grow in peaty soil which is very wet in their flowering period, but dry during the winter. Grow in the sun in a light, free-draining lime-free compost, with added sharp sand and leafmould. Water well when in growth, keep almost completely dry in winter, and repot annually as growth resumes in spring. They are ideal for alpine gardens and troughs, and can be plunged outside during the flowering period X Rhodoxis Hybrida
