Description

This plant is often found in the wild in Northern Europe. STEM: Arching, with strongly curved or hooked prickles. ROOT: Woody stock. HAIRS: Absent or sometimes short hairs beneath leaves. STIPULES: Present, long, broad, on leaf-stalk. LEAF-STALK: Present. BRACTS: Broad. FLOWER STALK: 0.5-2cm. SEPALS: 5, lobed, bent back, falling in fruit. PETALS: 5. STAMENS: Numerous. STIGMA: Many in conical head. OVARY: Numerous, 1-celled. SEEDS: 1 to each nut-like fruit, not released.
