Description

This genus consists of bushy, annuals, biennials, deciduous and evergreen perennials. They are grown for their interesting foliage and spiny collared blooms that usually have a bluish-green metallic sheen. They will flower over a long period in the summer. They are fully to half hardy. Grow in sun with fertile well drained soil. You can propagate species by seeds in the autumn, or selected forms by division in the spring or by root cuttings in winter.
