Bleach in the garden ...![]() ... never really thought bleach had much place in the garden ... but I got through a good deal of it today! Patio, sandpit, climbing frame, all a bit green and in need of a purge. So this was the first really nice weekend of the year, and I spent most of it giving the garden a bit of a spring clean. I started with the patio, that involved a couple of bin bags, a jet wash, a yard broom and a bottle of bleach ... it is only when you start clearing a patio that you realise how filthy it was. So now it is lovely and clear again. The pond was next. I cut back the marginal rushes; removed dead leaves from the water; cleaned the pond filter and fed the fish ... clearly they did not think it as warm as I did ... they ignored the food. I clearing up I found some seed pods from my favourite marginal. I thought it was called pink flag ... but I think I am wrong, I rather suspect it is from the genus Sisyrinchium. When it flowers I will post some pictures and then someone can identify it for me. The bleach continued in the climbing frame, getting it ready for a coat of wood preserver. If you are going to use bleach, then remember ... the solution to pollution is dilution! (discuss!!!) make sure you wash it down with loads of water. Still the garden is looking miles better than it did at the start of the weekend ... roll on spring.
