Once you have logged-in, you're ready to start posting content. But wait ... what do we mean by content? Content is pretty much anything you add to the site. And that is what this site is all about ... you adding and improving the content.
At the top of your personal menu, you'll find a link called "create content".

Click this and you'll see a list of the types of content you can create. Different users might see a slightly different list than the one shown. This list reflects the privileges assigned to your user account or to the group ("role") your account is part of.
A rule of thumb with content is ... if you created it then you can change it. For other content you can add comments.
There are a number of different types of content you can add:
- Blog Entry
-
The Garden Wall allows every registered user to maintain an individual online weblog (commonly known as a blog), often referred to as an online journal or diary. Blogs are made up of individual entries that are time stamped and are typically viewed by date as you would a diary. Blogs often contain links to other parts of The Garden Wall, other webpages users have read and/or agree/disagree with.
- Book Page
-
You are reading one now! A book is a set of pages tied together in sequence, perhaps with chapters, sections, subsections, and so on. You can use books for grouping information on a common theme such as a guide to pests, Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), or whatever you'd like.
- Forum Topic
-
The Garden Wall has threaded discussion boards, called forums. Forums are very useful because they allow members to discuss topics with one another, and the discussions are archived for future reference.
Topics, or threaded discussions, are posted to a forum. Each topic is comprised of an initial post and replies, or comments.
- Image
-
The Garden Wall allows users to attach images to other content such as Taxa or Garden information.
- Page
-
Pages are the most basic type of content. Pages can be collected in books via the book module. Users should create a page if they want to submit a simple article.
- Story
-
Stories are articles in their simplest form: they have a title, a teaser and a body. Stories are typically used to post news articles or as a group blog
- Taxa
-
This is the Plant genus, species, variety and cultivar information and so it critical to the value we will all get from The Garden Wall. Users are free to edit and improve the Taxa information. The aim is to have the plant information enriched by the community.
I probably need to start callin it something nicer like 'Plant Species'
- Garden Locations
-
You will be able to describe your garden and the various beds and borders etc. You can then attach other content to your garden ... such as plants it contains etc.
AND COMING SOON ...
- My Plants
-
You will be able to detail exactly what varieties of plants you have in your garden and create Blog entries etc about specific plants. You can record the microclimate that the plant has and how well (or otherwise!) it is performing.
