Description

This is a small genus of four bushy, rosette-forming, fleshy leafed rhizomatous perennials. The leaves are tooth-edged, deep green, sometimes mottled with red or purple and are round to heart-shaped with a dense covering of fine velvety hairs. The flowers are tubular to trumpet-shaped with flared lobes, about 12-35mm long and are bright pink, orange, red or white, with usually red-spotted yellow interiors. They are frost tender, min 15C and should be grown in humus-rich, well drained soil with bright light but out of direct sun light.

A vigorous, upright perennial with large, deep green leaves with red marks. Tubular, orange-red flowers with yellow lips, are borne in early summer to early autumn.
